With funding of more than 12 million Euros the Collaborative Research Centre (SFB)/Transregio 225 project “From the basics of biofabrication to functional tissue models” is starting the second phase in January 2022. The project is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and is led by our MAP partner, the University of Würzburg, with participation from FAU and our second MAP partner, the University of Bayreuth. The project is developing advanced tissue models by biofabrication approaches, involving the use of automated 3D-printing processes to print living cells simultaneously with biomaterials (bioinks). Within this consortium, the FAU Institute of Biomaterials is involved in two research projects led by MAP Focal Subject Head Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini, who is also the spokesperson for the Erlangen site of the research centre.
